While it does not seem fair it is a fact that as we age our metabolism slows down. With every passing decade we lose 5-6 pounds of muscle.  We are burning perhaps 100 calories less per day at 40 than we did at 30.  But don’t worry, there are ways to boost burning fat at any age.

  1. A super low-calorie diet is a sure way NOT to lose weight. Your body goes into starvation mode and your metabolic rate automatically slows down.
  2. Bad carbs like white breads and white pasta also lowers the rate of metabolism, so focus on eating fruits, veggies, and whole grains.
  3. Break your exercise routine into 2 smaller sessions.  Why? Small bursts of sctivity throughout the day rev your metabolism and you will actually burn up to 100-200 more calories per day just by having two 15 minute sessions vs one 30 minute session.
